Expertise and connection with the community

Academic research has played — and continues to play — a fundamental role in shaping our understanding of the state of natural ecosystems, human societies, and their interactions. It develops adequate and innovative responses to the challenges facing our societies.

However, research on these issues must constantly ensure it does not remain confined to academic journals and laboratories. It must be rooted in the heart of society, in living laboratories that benefit from the contributions of all relevant stakeholders.

In this spirit, the University of Geneva is involved in — or leads — several co-creation initiatives aimed at developing actionable responses to global challenges. Its unique location at the heart of International Geneva gives it both a unique opportunity and a particular responsibility.
